Haii haii everyone! My name is Mori and I am an Abyssal Ray VTuber.The name Memento Moray is a silly little pun based on the Latin phrase Memento Mori + Ray as in stingrays, manta rays etc. Rays are my favorite animals of all time. Memento Mori is often used as a phrase to remember one's own mortality. So I'm using that as an anchor to take charge and really make the best of this life given to me. I have a deep seated fear of both the deep ocean depths and my own mortality so take this as a project to help me overcome my fears and to not let them overtake me.

I am a hardcore completionist at heart and I love collecting things. Every little trinket or in game collectible has its own story to tell, so I keep on collecting hoping to find lost memories and new stories to tell. In real life I deal with a dissociative disorder so this helps me both as a VTuber and IRL to keep me grounded and remember who I am along the way.

Design Notes

  • When it comes to drawing my character..

  • My character is based on several types of rays: Coffin Rays for the concept, Shark Rays for the belly pattern, Blue Spotted Rays for color influence and of course Manta Rays for the lobes at the top of the head.

  • For the twintails I wanted to base them off of how remoras hang around on rays. I wanted them to be a little spoopy but still cute so the design idea was based around the jelly like structures of the Sea Angels and Panda Skeleton Sea Squirts. The internal skeleton of the twintails also comes from these sea squirts
